Contract Award 16 May 2003
McArdle ECS have been awarded a £70,000 groundwater treatment
contract in central Scotland. This project requires the use of a
very low flow rate treatment system, due to regulatory requirements,
to deal with LNAPL and dissolved phase hydrocarbon contamination.
Additionally, the project required the excavation of a length of
the adjacent riverbank, which had been negatively impacted on by
the subsequent spread of contaminant. With this in mind, a pneumatic
system utilising narrow bore submerged pipework was designed, and
installed below ground to minimise the visual impact of the on going
treatment. This involved not only trenching works within soft landscaped
areas, but also installing a service duct below the main site access,
while ensuring that 24 hour access was available to vehicle traffic.
